Light of Christ
The Purpose:
The purpose is to help the Cub develop a personal relationship with Jesus. With the parents' active assistance and participation in this program, it is hoped that the Cub will come to see Jesus as a real person and their friend.
Eligibility:
Registered Tiger or Wolf Cub Scout of Catholic Faith. The Scout must complete the requirements before starting third grade.
Program Objectives:
Requirements:
Each Cub have their own Activity Book. The book is designed for the Cub and their parent or guardian to work together. This book can be purchased at your local Scouts BSA Shop.
Program Completion:
When the Cub completes all steps, the scout is to present the book to their parish priest or the priest's representative and the book is reviewed with the Scout. After the priest or representative signs the book, the parent/guardian will need to send the application in the back of the book along with the application fee for final approval. The Scout may keep the book.
Presentation of Award:
The Scouts BSA religious knot patch will be mailed to the Cubmaster of the Scout's local parish in late January. The Cubmaster will be asked to present it to the Scout on Scout Sunday or some other Mass so that the Scout will be recognized by their parish for their work on this religious award.
The Light of Christ Medal might be presented to the Scout at a special ceremony held each February at St. Augustine's in Belleville.

- To have the Scout identify Jesus as a real person and as their friend.
- To foster early family religious involvement.
- To be a stepping stone toward Parvuli Dei and the other religious emblems, where the parents are involved.
- To serve as a catalyst to draw the parents into a deeper involvement with the Church, through the child.

INDOOR RELIGIOUS AWARDS RETREAT FOR CATHOLIC SCOUTS
The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting is presenting a unique opportunity for Cub Scout and Webelos Scout Dens to complete their Catholic Scouting Religious Awards. This offers the opportunity for Cub Scout Leaders to free up den meeting time for rank advancements and expanded scouting skills.
